Effective May 24, 2026·Version 2.4·Applies to StormCast for Android
The short version: StormCast is an early-access tool that helps you stay aware of severe weather. It is not a replacement for official emergency communications. Don't use it as your only source of life-safety information. Be respectful, don't abuse the service, and we'll keep building it for you.
01Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using StormCast (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the App. By creating an account, you confirm you are at least 13 years old and capable of entering into a binding agreement.
02Early access & beta software
StormCast is currently in early access and under active development. The App may contain bugs, behave unexpectedly, be temporarily unavailable, or change without notice. Features may be added, modified, or removed.
By using the App, you acknowledge that:
Alerts may be delayed, incomplete, or fail to deliver entirely.
Push notification delivery depends on your device, OS settings, network connectivity, and Google's Firebase service.
Server-side polling runs approximately every five minutes; new alerts may not appear instantly.
Data accuracy depends on the third-party feeds we ingest (NWS, USGS, NHC, AirNow, etc.) and we cannot guarantee their availability or correctness.
03Life-safety disclaimer
StormCast is a supplemental awareness tool only. It is not a substitute for official emergency communications. Never rely on the App alone for life-safety decisions during severe weather, flooding, fires, or other emergencies.
Always confirm severe weather, flooding, and emergency information directly with:
The developers of StormCast assume no liability for any missed, delayed, or incorrect alerts, or for any decisions made or actions taken based on information delivered by the App.
04Your account
A free account is required to use the App. You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your account.
You may delete your account at any time by emailing StormCastTeam@gmail.com. Account deletion is processed within 30 days.
05Acceptable use
You agree not to:
Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the App or its server components.
Use automated systems, bots, or scrapers to overload our servers or extract data at scale.
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data.
Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to the App without our written permission.
Add scanner feeds, alert URLs, or content that you do not have the right to use.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
06User-added feeds & URLs
StormCast lets you add your own emergency scanner streams, local alert feed URLs, and other third-party sources. You are solely responsible for the URLs you add and for ensuring you have the right to access and use those sources.
We do not host, control, or moderate third-party content played back through the App. We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or availability of any user-added feed.
07Intellectual property
The StormCast App, its design, code, name, logo, and branding are owned by the StormCast developers. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Weather data and government feeds (NWS, USGS, NHC, AirNow) are public-domain sources operated by the respective agencies. We do not claim ownership of that data.
08Pricing & advertising
StormCast is free to download. The App may include advertising and optional paid subscription features. Advertising displayed within the App will not use your personal data (email address, precise location, push token) for targeting purposes.
Our commitment: core severe-weather alerts, flood-stage warnings, and emergency notifications that protect lives will always remain accessible. Those are safety features, not premium features.
If pricing, subscription tiers, or advertising is introduced or materially changed, you will be notified inside the App and through an updated version of these Terms with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance.
09Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we will update the effective date and, for material changes, notify users via an in-app notice. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10Disclaimers & limitation of liability
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE STORMCAST DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF LIFE — ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. In those jurisdictions, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or pose a risk to other users or to the operation of the App. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
12Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Virginia.
